David has a filmmaking resume most young filmmakers would kill to have. His films have a cult following that few cinematographers can boast. His professional recognition came at Sundance when a small independent film called “Clerks” premiered there to critical acclaim. He has since followed up with cult classics like “Mallrats,” “Chasing Amy” and most recently “Clerks II.” He has been the Director of Photography on more than twenty films since “Clerks” first debuted in 1994. Although David Klein is best know for working with Kevin Smith, he has worked with many different filmmakers over the years. David is an independent spirit and his resume speaks loudly of this fact. Cinematographer on such disparate films as “Tattoo: A Love Story,” “The Ape” and “Good Time Max” since 2002, he has continued to work in indie films despite the high profile films he has shot in the past. He spent time in various universities in the pacific northwest before meeting Kevin Smith at a small film school in Vancouver BC. Other films include: “The Ape,” “August,” “When,” “Carlo’s Wake,” “Vulgar,” “Wish You Were Dead” and “Fool’s Gold.” David has two films set to be released in 2007 including “Novel Romance” and “Good Time Max” starring James Franco. |
